But to be more specific; my portfolio includes Historical mysteries, psychological thrillers, contemporary fiction, romance, rom-coms, romantasy, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, suspense, historical fiction, LGBTQ+ fiction, comedy, spicy romance and the wonderfully difficult-to-categorize stories that sit somewhere in between.
With 200+ audiobooks behind the mic, I’ve played everyone from sharp-witted sleuths and society ladies to morally grey lovers, terrifying villains, ancient beings, mothers, monsters and characters you definitely wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley.
I work with clients in all areas of VoiceOver production; from luxury and lifestyle to sports, entertainment, tech and global campaigns, I’ve lent my voice to brands including ESPN, Spotify, Shopify, Max Mara, Christian Dior, Disney and Warner Bros.
Commercials, TV promos, trailers, brand films, corporate narration and everything in between, whether the brief calls for elegant and elevated, warm and conversational, bold and authoritative, or something with a little more edge, I bring an actor’s instinct to every read.
Great VoiceOver isn’t about simply having a great voice. It’s knowing exactly what to do with it and having years of dance training sustains me for long sessions on my feet.
From video games and animation to immersive storytelling, I’ve stepped into the shoes of heroes, villains, mothers, monsters, warriors, aristocrats, AI, creatures — and everything wonderfully strange in between.
My character work includes projects across Warhammer 40,000, Disney and Warner Bros., bringing an actor’s instinct, an accent acrobat’s ear and a genuine love of play to every role.
Whether I’m creating a voice from scratch or finding the emotional truth inside an established world, every character gets their own rhythm, personality, history and heartbeat. Because the best character voices aren’t simply different they’re believable.

Literary Fiction gives me space to live in the quiet, complicated places between the words. It’s less about creating a voice and more about finding the truth of a character; the pauses, contradictions, memories and emotions they don’t always say aloud.

I’ve never believed in putting myself, or my voice, into one box. From cozy mysteries, historical fiction and literary fiction to romance, romantasy, fantasy, psychological thrillers, horror, sci-fi and deliciously dark fiction, I love moving between genres, characters and worlds.
One day I’m solving a murder in a sleepy English village; the next I’m battling monsters, breaking hearts or stepping somewhere altogether darker. And then you have the video games, audio dramas, animated series.. all different but all making up a beautiful patchwork quilt of work; different genres, different worlds, same commitment to the story.

Solo Narration
In solo narration, I perform the entire audiobook, including the narrative and every character, regardless of age, gender, accent or personality. It’s where versatility really gets to shine, I am creating an entire cast while keeping every character distinct, believable and consistent
Multicast narration uses three or more performers, often with individual actors assigned to specific characters or roles. Depending on the production, it can range from traditional narration with a larger cast to a highly produced performance incorporating music, sound design and effects. It’s audiobook storytelling on a bigger scale and is a lot of prep.
MultiCast
In dual narration, me and a co-narrator divide the book by chapter or point of view. Each of us performs the entire chapter assigned to our character’s POV including the dialogue of the other characters. The narrator changes with the POV. This requires collaboration during the prepping stages for audio consistency.
Dual Narration
Either in a studio in NYC, or connecting via my studio. Live directed means recording with a director, producer or creative team listening in as I perform, offering immediate feedback and adjustments along the way. It’s collaborative, responsive and allows me to shape tone, character, pacing and performance together in the moment.
Live Directed
In duet narration, myself and my co-narrator perform our designated character(s) throughout the entire book, including when those characters appear within someone else’s chapter. It creates an almost cinematic experience two actors inhabiting their characters and interacting across the story. This requires collaboration for script prep
Duet Narration
Self directed means I record independently, making the creative and performance choices needed to bring the script to life, from character, tone and pacing to accents, emotion and consistency delivering a polished performance without the need for a live director. Sometimes I will check details prior to recording to ensure I am hitting what the author & teams wants.

I'm a Multi-Award-Winning Actor and Narrator. I am always a storyteller, every character, every emotion and every choice, has an intention behind it.
I’m Charlie Albers, a multi-award-winning British voice actor, audiobook narrator, actor, storyteller and lifelong collector of voices, characters and personas.
I’ve recorded 200+ audiobooks, both as Charlie and as my slightly darker alter ego Allie Rose, but for me this job has never simply been about having a good voice and counting credits. I’m fascinated by people; how we speak, what we don’t say, where we come from and all those tiny rhythms, quirks and contradictions that make us who we are. That curiosity has taken me into some extraordinary worlds that I bring into the studio with me.
I’ve been honoured as an AudioFile Best Voice, won an AudioFile Earphones Award and SOVAS Award, and received an AIVA w3 Gold Award for my work with alongside multiple SOVAS and ONE Voice nominations and a Golden Crown Literary Award for my sapphic work. My work stretches from bestselling audiobooks and award-winning video games to animation, commercials, TV promos, audio drama, meditation and documentary narration.
Along the way, I’ve become Kaubi in Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, Audrey in The Mortuary Assistant, Sandriel in Crescent City, Mother Winter in The Dresden Files, and stepped into the worlds of Vampire Hunter D, Crave and The Amelia Peabody Series.
And then there are the accents.
I grew up in Britain with English, Welsh and Scottish heritage, travelled extensively, studied and lived in different countries, married a Dutchman and eventually made my home in the US. I’ve spent a lifetime surrounded by different cultures, languages and ways of speaking and apparently I was listening rather closely.
Today, I’m something of an accent acrobat, moving from RP and regional British voices to Scottish, Welsh, Irish, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and multiple US accents. But an accent is never just a collection of sounds to me. I want to know who the person is underneath it.
So what about audiobooks?
Give me a cozy English village and a suspicious body before teatime, a psychological thriller full of unreliable people, sweeping fantasy, literary fiction, sci-fi, romance, LGBTQ+ stories, LitRPG or YA and I’m happy. And when things get considerably darker, hotter or gloriously NSFW? That’s when Allie Rose comes out to play.
Narrating audiobooks is such a privilege I never take for granted. It is like being in a sweet shop surrounded by a myriad of delicious choices... so spoilt!
My passions are the light-hearted Rom-Coms & Cozy European Mysteries, I excel at the sharp comedic timing needed for romance, as well as juggling the distinct regional dialects and multi-national character rosters required for cozy mystery series set in European destinations. My voice is an ideal fit for female-led sleuth titles.
I love the twisty Psychological Thrillers, I am capable of maintaining intense atmospheric suspense, pacing heavy plot twists, and delivering nuanced, unreliable character perspectives. While I excel at the comedic timing required for uplifting rom-coms, my deeper, reassuring vocal range also lends itself beautifully to cozy mysteries and extends into the gripping, high-stakes tension required for dark psychological thrillers. And then as a gamer, and video voice actor I love the LitRPG because it is in this genre I can really shine authentically.
And what about my training...
I trained in acting, ballet and culinary arts, earned a BSc (Hons) in Food Science, Consumer Psychology & Behaviour, and studied Broadcast Journalism. It’s an unusual mix, I’ll grant you, but every piece of it comes into the booth with me.
The actor in me looks for the emotional truth, the storyteller finds the rhythm, the analytical part of my brain wants to know why something works, and the endlessly curious human wants to know who this character really is.
Because ultimately, the best performances don’t just come from technique, they come from being human.
My background on the stage gives me the confidence and technique to play a myriad of characters with ease. Coming from a professional stage acting background and video game performance background, I bring deep vocal stamina, distinct character separation, and high-impact emotional range straight into the studio.
